“A Hell of a Lot” – Postecoglou on Tottenham’s Squad Needs and Future Signings
Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that Tottenham will make more signings before the transfer window closes. Speaking to Football London during the team’s Asia tour, Postecoglou acknowledged that Spurs still have business to complete in the transfer market.
Postecoglou emphasized the need for a larger squad to meet the demands of his intense playing style throughout the season. He stated, “I don’t think all the necessary changes will be completed in this window. I’ve never believed in quick fixes. It would have been ideal to have our business wrapped up by now, but I prefer to stay disciplined and avoid making hasty decisions.”
He added,
“This period is challenging, and I have less control over decisions. I’ve learned to remain disciplined and stick to our plan. We’ve added two young players, and there’s been growth from last year’s squad, making us stronger. However, we will continue to work on our squad beyond this window. The overhaul I envisioned wasn’t just minor adjustments; it required a significant shift. Many players from last year’s pre-season tour are no longer here. We’ve made considerable progress, but there’s more to be done for sustained success.”
Most of Spurs’ signings this window have focused on young academy prospects, such as 18-year-olds Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall, expected to join the senior team. However, the club has yet to make major signings of experienced players, with Timo Werner’s loan from Leipzig being the only notable move so far.

Spurs are currently linked with experienced players like Federico Chiesa, Ivan Toney, and Dominic Solanke. While targeting young talent is important for the future, Postecoglou acknowledges the need for immediate reinforcement. With Spurs competing in Europe this season, it’s crucial to bolster the squad before the new campaign begins.
