Final Showdown

In the third-place match, Nadal was defeated by Djokovic, 6-2, 7-6(5). Reflecting on their journey, Nadal said, “Thank you, Novak, for everything and for all the moments we shared on the court during our careers. It’s been an amazing rivalry.”

A Legacy of Greatness

Nadal, who is retiring after next month’s Davis Cup Finals, acknowledged Djokovic’s influence on his career. “In a personal way, you helped me go over my limits during almost 15 years. Without that, I wouldn’t be the player I am today. Congratulations on all the titles and your amazing career, and I wish you all the best of luck for the future,” he added.

The two rivals competed in a record 60 matches, with Nadal winning 29 times compared to Djokovic’s 31 victories.

Djokovic’s Tribute

An emotional Djokovic also took a moment to thank Nadal for his contributions to tennis. “It’s been an incredible honor and pleasure to share the court with you. It’s quite an emotional moment today; we’ve played a lot of games over so many years,” said the 24-time Grand Slam champion.
