Kyrgios’ Changing Opinion on Sinner
Nick Kyrgios once praised Jannik Sinner, calling him his “favorite player” in an old video. However, the Australian has since changed his stance, especially after Sinner’s failed doping test.
For the past six months, Kyrgios has been vocal about his belief that the world No. 1 should not have escaped suspension. While many have grown accustomed to his criticism, one tennis fan recently resurfaced an old clip where Kyrgios spoke highly of the Italian.
“Sinner is like my favorite player right now,” Kyrgios had said at the time.
After seeing the footage, Kyrgios acknowledged his past statement but clarified that his opinion was formed before the doping case.
Sinner’s Response: Staying Focused
When asked about Kyrgios’ comments, Sinner refused to engage in the controversy.

“I don’t want to respond to what Nick (Kyrgios) said or what other players say. The most important part is having people around me that I can trust, people that know exactly what happened. That’s all.”
What’s Next for Sinner?
Despite continuing his season, Sinner’s fate remains uncertain. His CAS hearing is scheduled for April 16-17, and if the ruling goes against him, he could still face a doping suspension.
Speaking earlier in the season, Sinner maintained his innocence:
“In my mind, I know exactly what happened, and that’s how I block it out. I haven’t done anything wrong. That’s why I’m still here. That’s why I’m still playing.”
Meanwhile, Kyrgios remains firm in his stance, even reacting to the resurfaced clip with a sharp comment:
“This was before he was found with roids in his system.”
With Sinner’s hearing approaching, the debate is far from over.
