Spurs’ Busy Transfer Window Raises Questions

Both Danso and Tel will be available for these matches, which is a boost for Postecoglou following the season-ending injury to Radu Dragusin.

Stephen Warnock Questions Tottenham’s Signing of Mathys Tel

Sky Sports pundit Stephen Warnock has expressed doubts over Spurs’ deadline-day loan move for Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich.

Warnock compared Spurs’ recruitment to that of Arsenal, who were also reportedly interested in Tel, and argued that the young forward might not fit into Postecoglou’s system.

Warnock’s Concerns

“From an Arsenal point of view, whenever I watch Tel, a lot of his best work comes from that left-hand side. But Spurs already have Son Heung-min there.
If they play him as a striker, once Solanke returns from injury, Tel won’t get many minutes through the middle either.”

Warnock also believes Tottenham’s midfield remains a major weakness, despite the additions of Bergvall, Sarr, and Archie Gray.

“You desperately need two central midfielders. Every time we analyze Spurs, we see how open and wide they are in midfield. They need reinforcements now, because Tottenham are in trouble.”

Could Mathys Tel Still Be a Success at Spurs?

Despite Warnock’s doubts, Bundesliga experts have urged Spurs fans to be excited about Tel’s arrival.

With Richarlison injured, Tel could start as a number nine against Liverpool on Thursday. While Son will likely retain his left-wing role, there is a possibility that Tel could move there when Solanke returns.

At 32 years old, Son hasn’t been at his absolute best this season, though he continues to influence games positively as club captain.

A Positive Dilemma for Postecoglou

Unlike earlier in the season, Tottenham now have more attacking options, giving Postecoglou much-needed flexibility. Whether Tel can prove his doubters wrong remains to be seen, but his talent and versatility could make him a valuable asset for Spurs.
