A challenging start for Wilson Odobert

Wilson Odobert

Wilson Odobert’s arrival at Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window brought a sense of excitement, with the 19-year-old winger regarded as one of Burnley’s brightest talents

His debut season in North London has been anything but smooth, as injuries have plagued his progress, limiting him to just three Premier League appearances so far.

The French youth international’s injury woes began shortly after his arrival, with a hamstring problem sidelining him for nearly a month. After a period of rehabilitation

Odobert made his long-awaited return to the pitch in Tottenham’s Europa League clash against AZ Alkmaar two weeks ago. Unfortunately, his comeback was short-lived, as he suffered a recurrence of the same injury during the match, dashing hopes of a sustained run in the team.

Speaking about the setback, Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou described the injury as “significant” and suggested a conservative approach to Odobert’s recovery.

No, no real time but it’s significant, so he’ll be out. Again, because it’s a reoccurrence we’ll have to be a bit conservative. I’d say a similar timeframe to his last one, maybe a bit longer, but it’s one of those where you don’t want to put a timeframe on it because it will really depend how quickly he heals from it.”
