Incoming Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has joked about comparisons to Sir Alex Ferguson, but there is a remarkable similarity between the two.
Ferguson won 13 Premier League titles, two Champions Leagues and six FA Cups during his 27 years in charge of the club, having joined United from Aberdeen in 1986. At the time Ferguson took over, United had picked up just 12 points from ten league games.
And the situation is strikingly similar for Amorim, with United currently sat 13th in the Premier League having taken 12 points from their opening ten matches. However, Amorim will not officially start his new role until November 11.
That allows him to take charge of Sporting’s Champions League clash with Manchester City and their Premeira Liga match against Braga first. Speaking ahead of the game against City, Amorim was asked about the fact many United fans will be watching the match closely.
