Paris Masters Star Raises Health Concerns Before Jannik Sinner Withdraws Due to Illness

Stefanos Tsitsipas raised concerns about his health just before Jannik Sinner withdrew from the Paris Masters due to illness. The Greek player battled through a tough opening-round match on Monday, later revealing he felt unwell on the court.

Tsitsipas’ Health Struggles During Opening Match

The world No. 11 completed a hard-fought comeback win against Roberto Carballes Baena, a lucky loser, with a score of 4-6, 6-3, 6-3. However, Tsitsipas admitted afterward that he wasn’t at his best:

“I didn’t start so well. I had an upset stomach and wasn’t feeling so great on the court,” Tsitsipas said. “I couldn’t even pump myself up at the beginning because when something is bothering you that much, it takes your entire concentration and focus.”

He continued, explaining that his physical struggle became an added challenge alongside his opponent.

Sinner’s Withdrawal Due to Illness

Jannik Sinner, the world No. 1, had been in Paris for days preparing for the tournament but felt sick on Tuesday, leading to his withdrawal. In a video message, he shared his disappointment:

“I’m very disappointed to tell you that I am not able to play here at this tournament. I came very early here to prepare, but I felt sick. I’m having a virus at the moment, which should pass in the next two or three days. Physically, I am not able to compete.”

The two-time Grand Slam champion emphasized that his focus is now on recovering in time for the ATP Finals in Turin.

Despite the setback, Sinner expressed optimism about his recovery:

“Now for sure the most important part is to recover and get back physically to 100 percent. Maybe in the next three, four days, I feel better, and I can start practicing again. The main goal is Turin, but right now, it’s much more important to see how I feel in the next days and hopefully be ready for Turin.”

As Tsitsipas and Sinner battle through these health challenges, their fans are hopeful they’ll be at full strength for the season’s final events.
