Rafael Nadal Drops Worrying Hint Ahead of Last Professional Tennis Match

Rafael Nadal has hinted that he may have to cancel his scheduled last professional tennis match due to ‘physical’ issues following his appearance at the Six Kings Slam.

At 38, Nadal recently participated in a star-studded six-player exhibition event in Saudi Arabia, marking his penultimate tournament before officially retiring. The 22-time Grand Slam champion faced tough competition, losing to Carlos Alcaraz 6-3, 6-3 in the semi-finals, and then being defeated by Novak Djokovic in the third-place match.

Possible Withdrawal from Davis Cup Finals

Nadal has now expressed concerns about his participation in the upcoming Davis Cup Finals, which is set to be his final appearance before hanging up his racket for good. The team-based tournament holds special significance for Nadal, who has struggled with injuries in recent years.

“Will I be ready for the Davis Cup? Emotionally, yes, that’s for sure; physically and tennis-wise, I still have a month ahead of me,” Nadal stated.

He emphasized his commitment to preparing himself to help his team win but acknowledged the possibility that it may come too soon.

Commitment to the Team

“I will prepare; I will try to be in shape to help the team win. If I feel ready and the captain feels the same way, it will be his decision. If I don’t feel ready, I will be the first to step away and see how I can help,” Nadal added.

He further noted, “First, I have to feel competitive to get into the game. Then, you can win or lose; that’s part of the sport. If I’m not 100 percent or if I’m far from winning my match, I won’t go on the court.”

Nadal is regarded as one of the greatest—and most beloved—tennis players in history. His Big Three rivals, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic, have paid heartfelt tributes to the King of Clay, who has clinched a record total of 14 French Open titles.
