On August 29, 2024, the first teaser for Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born was unveiled, starring Kim Tae Ri, Jung Eun Chae, Kim Yoon Hye, and others.

The retro-themed teaser introduces us to the world of women’s traditional Korean theatre, which was immensely popular in the 1950s. These performances filled the world with art and romance, capturing the essence of the era.

Kim Tae Ri’s Character, Yoon Jeongnyeon, Finds Her Calling

In the teaser, we hear Kim Tae Ri’s character, Yoon Jeongnyeon, express her awe as she witnesses the Maeran Woman’s Gukguek Theater Company perform on stage. Although she knows it is just a play, she is moved by the actors who “danced and sang in their roles.”

The scene is deeply emotional as it shifts to a visibly stunned Jeongnyeon, who has just experienced the magic of the stage. She reflects on how what she saw was “a different world,” and this moment leads her to discover her true passion for traditional opera. We then see Jeongnyeon trying to recreate a scene she witnessed, marking the beginning of her dream to become an opera actress.
