How Jacob Ramsey Feels About Leaving Aston Villa and Joining Tottenham with Interest ‘Confirmed’

There aren’t expected to be many incoming transfers at Tottenham before the window shuts, but that hasn’t stopped the rumors from emerging.

Tottenham’s Focus on Outgoings

Tottenham Hotspur are currently focused on player outgoings, with at least three players set to leave the club. One of those players is Giovani Lo Celso, who is receiving late interest from Real Betis, while Besiktas is in talks to sign Sergio Reguilon. Despite these potential exits, Tottenham is still exploring opportunities to strengthen the squad, particularly in the center-back position.

Jacob Ramsey’s Interest in Tottenham

Interestingly, Tottenham Hotspur has shown interest in Aston Villa’s midfielder Jacob Ramsey, and the player is reportedly keen on the move. Earlier in the transfer window, Tottenham made attempts to sign Ramsey, but Aston Villa manager Unai Emery was adamant about keeping him in the Midlands.

Ben Jacobs recently provided an update on the situation during an appearance on the Tottenham fan channel, Last Word on Spurs:

“What we can confirm is that the interest in Jacob Ramsey is legitimate, and Tottenham tried verbally on more than one occasion. The only thing in Tottenham’s favour is that the player, even with Villa having Champions League football and Spurs not, was keen on the move, liked the idea of London, and would’ve come with a wage increase.”

However, Jacobs also noted that it seems unlikely that the deal will go through before the current transfer window closes.

Where Would Jacob Ramsey Fit at Spurs?

Jacob Ramsey, valued at £50 million, plays best in the James Maddison role, operating centrally behind the striker. He impressed during the 2022-2023 season, scoring six goals and providing eight assists. Unfortunately, an injury last season limited him to just 16 appearances.

With Giovani Lo Celso likely to leave, there is certainly room for another attacking midfielder at Tottenham to help lighten the load on Maddison. Ramsey’s interest in a move to London and Tottenham opens the door for a potential transfer, but as it stands, a deal appears unlikely to happen during this window.
