Tottenham Hotspur’s summer transfer window has been an eventful one, with Johan Lange playing a pivotal role in the club’s activities.

Despite these moves, there may be a sense that more could have been done to improve the squad’s depth. With only a few days left in the summer transfer window, Tottenham may already be planning for the winter market.

Tottenham’s Potential £60m January Move

According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham could still be working on a last-minute deal before the transfer window closes. However, after the signing of Wilson Odobert, some believe Tottenham’s summer business might be complete.

There are a number of reported targets that Tottenham has not yet secured, but these players could be revisited in the January transfer window. One such target is Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze.

Interest in Eberechi Eze

Sami Mokbel recently discussed Tottenham’s interest in Eze on the “Last Word on Spurs” podcast:

“It would be accurate to say Tottenham had an interest in Eberechi Eze, that is accurate. But I know, the entire top six will have looked at Eze’s situation. Interestingly, and most important of all, none of those clubs took the plunge.”

Mokbel suggests that concerns over Eze’s hamstring injuries over the last 18 months might have deterred clubs from making a move this summer. However, a £60m deal could be revisited in January or next summer.

Tottenham’s Deadline Dilemma

With just days remaining in the transfer window, Tottenham may need to act quickly if they want to secure Eze’s signature. Crystal Palace had a £60m release clause for Eze, but that clause has now expired, putting the power back in Palace’s hands.

Former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan claims it would take a massive offer—around £80m—to sign Eze before the deadline:

“£80million. Why would Palace sell him? They’ve got £140million coming in on players. A lot of that is probably structured so it is up-front money. So why would they need to sell Eze as well?” he said.

“Someone is going to have to pay big bucks to get Eze.”
