Tottenham Injury Update: Rodrigo Bentancur, Yves Bissouma Latest News and Return Dates
A Serious Injury Concern After the First Game of the Premier League Season
Tottenham are expected to be without Rodrigo Bentancur for the weekend visit of Everton. The Argentine midfielder suffered a serious head injury during the second half of the draw with Leicester on Monday night, which resulted in him being knocked out.
In more positive news, Richarlison returned from injury and was given a late cameo appearance. Yves Bissouma is also available again after being handed a club-imposed ban.
Rodrigo Bentancur
Tottenham are likely to be without Rodrigo Bentancur for the visit of Everton on Saturday after he suffered a significant head injury at King Power Stadium. Bentancur accidentally clashed heads with Abdul Fatawu before slamming into the grass. He received lengthy treatment on the pitch, left on a stretcher, and was given oxygen.
Manager Ange Postecoglou confirmed post-match that Bentancur was “conscious and communicating,” and the Uruguay midfielder traveled back with the team. However, due to concussion protocols, he is almost certain to miss Saturday’s match against Everton.

Yves Bissouma
Tottenham suspended Yves Bissouma for their first game of the Premier League season against Leicester City on Monday night after footage surfaced of him inhaling laughing gas. Ange Postecoglou confirmed the news before the game and stated that the midfielder will need to rebuild trust with himself and the squad. Bissouma also issued a public apology, acknowledging a “severe lack of judgment.”
Bissouma was handed a one-game ban and is now back in contention to face Everton, though it remains unclear if Postecoglou will include him in the matchday squad.

Fraser Forster
Fraser Forster has returned to first-team training and hopes to be back in the matchday squad before the end of the month.
“Richy and Fraser have got back into training this week and both had a good block of training,” Postecoglou said. “With another week’s training before the start of the season, hopefully, they’ll be in a good place. Everyone else has had a pretty good pre-season.”
