Ange Postecoglou’s Plan for Mikey Moore at Tottenham This Season
Tottenham Hotspur’s 2024/25 campaign kicks off on Monday night with an away game against newly-promoted Leicester City. This delay gives manager Ange Postecoglou extra time to finalize his starting XI.
Decision-Making Time for Postecoglou
The Australian coach faces some tough decisions, with his squad now brimming with quality across the board. The summer transfer window was positive for Spurs, featuring a series of friendlies both in the UK and in the challenging Asian heat. These matches allowed several promising youngsters to showcase their talents, with Mikey Moore emerging as the standout player.
How Postecoglou Plans to Use Mikey Moore
During the summer, Spurs strengthened their ranks by bringing in Archie Gray, while Lucas Bergvall also joined the squad after signing earlier in January. The future looks bright for Tottenham, with Gray impressing many during pre-season. However, it is Moore who has truly shined, and Postecoglou has outlined his plans for the young talent.
Speaking to SpursPLAY ahead of Monday’s game, Postecoglou confirmed that Moore would be integrated into the first team:
“You always like to see that come through [at the club], and it’s a credit to him and his family that he’s still a very young man but already making a mark at our football club,” said Postecoglou.
“I’ve said all along, he’s made a really positive impression on us back at the end of last year, and he’s had a really strong summer with us. The plan is to keep him in the first team and allow him to develop. There are still U21 games where he can play, but even last year, he missed a large part of the season due to injuries, so he didn’t play much in the U21s.”
“For us, having him as part of the first team, I’m sure he’ll play some first-team games as well. I think that will be important.”
Mikey Moore Set for Premier League Action
Although Moore is not expected to start on Monday night, it’s promising to hear that he will be involved in the first team. Moore made his debut and a few additional appearances towards the end of the last Premier League season.

This season, the focus will be on gradually integrating him into the squad, with Spurs fans hoping for more regular minutes in the Premier League. The Europa League, in particular, could provide Moore with a solid platform to build his Tottenham career over the coming months.
However, this could spell trouble for some of Tottenham’s other wingers, with players like Manor Solomon potentially facing reduced opportunities or even departure from the club in the near future.
