Writing on his personal website, Keys praised Postecoglou and called Solanke’s arrival a “really good piece of business,” but added that it’s “not enough.”

Keys was less complimentary about James Maddison, describing the midfielder as “flimsy” and merely “good,” stating that he “needs help” in the middle of the park.

Maddison’s Struggles and Competition from Lucas Bergvall

Maddison joined Tottenham last summer with much fanfare and was impressive in the opening weeks of the season. However, after returning from a £40 million transfer fee injury, his performance declined, leading to a disappointing finish last season, which cost him a spot in Euro 2024.

As Tottenham prepares for their opening game against Leicester City, Maddison’s former club, the 27-year-old must deliver a strong performance. If he fails to do so, there’s a chance that Lucas Bergvall, who has had an excellent pre-season, could soon overtake him in the pecking order.
