Tottenham’s £40m Striker Target More Likely than Dominic Solanke

Tottenham are on the hunt for a new striker this summer to fill the void left by Harry Kane. A year after Kane’s transfer to Bayern Munich, Spurs are exploring various potential recruits.

Dominic Solanke has been mentioned as a possible target, with increasing speculation about his move. However, according to Dean Jones on the Ranks FC Ultras Podcast, Solanke might be too costly for Tottenham. Jones suggests that a transfer for Ivan Toney appears to be a more feasible option.

“He’s too expensive; he’s £65m (Solanke). If Richarlison leaves Tottenham, then maybe, but without that, I don’t see how it’s plausible. I’d say Ivan Toney is much more realistic,” Jones stated. “I think we’re looking at Toney going to the wire, and if Tottenham haven’t signed a striker by the end of the window, they could go and sign him.”

Tottenham May Afford Dominic Solanke

Although Solanke would come at a high price, it is a deal that Spurs could potentially manage. Tottenham should theoretically still have funds left from Harry Kane’s transfer last summer. Additionally, the impending sales of players like Emerson Royal and Djed Spence should provide Tottenham with extra transfer funds.

This transfer would be expensive, but it is not out of the question.

There is, of course, a debate on whether Solanke would be a better fit than Toney, and Tottenham needs to resolve this as they continue their search for a new striker. While Toney seems more likely to join Spurs at the moment, there is an argument that Solanke, even at a higher cost, might be the superior signing.
