Ange Postecoglou Provides Injury Update on Richarlison and Destiny Udogie Ahead of Tottenham’s Friendly
Ange Postecoglou has given an update on Richarlison and Destiny Udogie as Tottenham gears up for their pre-season friendly against Vissel Kobe in Tokyo, Japan.
Postecoglou confirmed that neither Richarlison nor Udogie will be available for the match on Saturday. Both players are still recovering from injuries. Richarlison has been sidelined with a calf issue since the end of the 2023/24 season, while Udogie is recovering from left quadriceps surgery he had in late April.
Tottenham has already secured victories in their summer friendlies against Hearts and QPR. With the team now in Tokyo as part of their pre-season tour of Japan and South Korea, Postecoglou is hopeful that both players will be fit before their Premier League opener against Leicester City.
Ben Davies, who also missed the latter part of last season due to a calf injury, might see some action against Vissel Kobe. Davies has returned to training and could be in line to feature in the match.
“Out of the travelling party, it’s just Richy and Destiny who aren’t quite ready to play. Everyone else is fit,”
Postecoglou said in his pre-match press conference.

Postecoglou also mentioned the intensity of the training sessions in Tokyo. The squad has been working hard, including a double session right after arriving in Japan. “It’s about constant improvement and adaptation to different training conditions,” he said. “The boys are improving all the time, and this time of year is crucial for preparing for the season ahead.”
Postecoglou’s focus is on maintaining high training standards despite the change in environment, ensuring the team is well-prepared for the upcoming season.
