Kane to Miss Preseason Clash Against Former Club
Harry Kane will miss Bayern Munich’s preseason match against his former club Tottenham in Seoul, as confirmed by Vincent Kompany on Monday.
Kane’s Move to Bayern
The England captain joined Bayern last summer in a €120 million ($131m) deal and ended the season as the Bundesliga’s top scorer with 36 goals. Despite his performance, Bayern finished third, 18 points behind champions Bayer Leverkusen.
Injury and Euros Performance
Kane suffered a back injury just before this summer’s Euros. While he scored three goals for England, helping them reach the final, he wasn’t as sharp in front of goal.
Bayern’s Preseason Plans
Bayern will travel to South Korea for their preseason preparations and are set to face Tottenham in the Coupang Player series on August 3. “Harry Kane, Alphonso Davies, Dayot Upamecano, and Kingsley Coman won’t be there, but hopefully for the first cup game,” said new Bayern boss Kompany at a news conference.
Future Opportunity Against Spurs
Kane will have another chance to face his former team when Bayern play at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on August 10. The 30-year-old left Tottenham as the club’s all-time highest scorer with 280 goals in all competitions.
