Tottenham and Aston Villa in Talks for Giovani Lo Celso and Jacob Ramsey Swap Deal

Tottenham and Aston Villa Negotiating Lo Celso + £19m Deal for Jacob Ramsey

In a major transfer development, Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa are reportedly negotiating a swap deal that would see Giovani Lo Celso and £19 million sent to Villa in exchange for midfielder Jacob Ramsey. This news comes from Argentine outlet TyC Sports.

Giovani Lo Celso recently helped Argentina win the 2024 Copa América in the United States, providing a crucial assist for Lautaro Martínez’s winning goal in the final against Colombia. Lo Celso’s impressive performance seems to have reignited interest in him, leading to the current negotiations with Aston Villa.

If the deal goes through, Jacob Ramsey, 23, will move to Tottenham, while Lo Celso will join Aston Villa along with a £19 million payment. This swap would mean that Lo Celso will no longer share the Tottenham squad with Cristian Romero but will instead join Emiliano Martínez and Emiliano Buendía at Villa.

Jacob Ramsey has been a topic of interest for Tottenham in recent weeks. Despite an injury-plagued season where he played about 850 minutes, Ramsey remains a promising young English midfielder. He is well-regarded by both Johan Lange, who knows him from his time at Villa, and Villa’s manager, Unai Emery.

Earlier reports mentioned a possible Lo Celso + £20 million swap, but Villa were initially not interested. It’s unclear what has changed—perhaps Lo Celso’s recent performances at Copa America, Ramsey’s willingness to move, or Villa’s financial needs.

If the deal is confirmed, it could be a beneficial move for both clubs. Ramsey has significant potential, and acquiring him for a reasonable fee, including a player who no longer fits into Tottenham’s plans, might be a smart move.
