Tottenham Eye Shock Move for Viktor Gyokeres as Asking Price Drops

Tottenham Hotspur have been given hope of signing one of Europe’s most prolific strikers for a reduced fee this summer.

Ange Postecoglou’s side is in high spirits after a fantastic start to their pre-season, having beaten Cambridge United and Hearts with a combined 12 goals. However, this doesn’t change the fact that Tottenham need reinforcements in several areas before the transfer window closes.

A new striker is a top priority, and Spurs have now been linked with a surprise move for Dejan Kulusevski’s international teammate.

Tottenham have been linked with several top-quality strikers since the transfer window opened in June. Postecoglou made the bold decision not to replace Harry Kane after he left for Bayern Munich before the 2023/24 season. This stance is expected to change, with Viktor Gyokeres of Sporting Lisbon emerging as a target.

GiveMeSport claims that Tottenham have hope of signing Gyokeres for a reduced fee, as there is growing confidence that Sporting’s demands will decrease. Reports have indicated for months that Gyokeres would only be available if his release clause of €100 million (£84m) is triggered, but that fee is expected to drop.

Tottenham will reportedly make a surprise move for the talented Swedish international if assured he can be signed for a bargain fee. While the exact reduced price is not mentioned, it is suggested that Postecoglou’s wish to sign two attackers could be fulfilled.

However, Tottenham face competition for Gyokeres’ signature. GB Football revealed earlier in July that Arsenal also want to sign him, and he could be available for a fee closer to £60 million this summer.
